After the new numbers from the 2010 US Census, the Kenai Peninsula Borough has declared itself malapportioned. That has meant a committee formed to design new districts for borough assembly members. The committee is considering redesigning part of the Sterling area to be included in the same district as Seward. They also are considering increasing the size of the assembly from 9 to 11 members.
